Third metro line extension – Lot № 2 with two underground stations and a railway station

“PROJECT FOR UNDERGROUND EXTENSION IN SOFIA, THIRD UNDERGROUND LINE – “BOTEVGRADSKO SHOSSE” BLVD. – “VLADIMIR VAZOV” BLVD. – CENTRAL URBAN PART – “OVCHA KUPEL” DISTRICT, SECOND STAGE – FROM KM 11+966,34/11+941,33/ TO KM 15+749,00 WITH FOUR UNDERGROUND STATIONS:

LOT № 2: Section from km 14+277.56 to km 15+749.00 with a length of 1471.44 m, 2 /two/ underground stations and a railway station

This contract includes the design and construction of the section at Lot №2. It is envisaged to be built two underground stations (MS 17 and MS 18) and two tunnel sections, from MS16 to MC17 in New Austrian tunneling method (NATM) and from MS17 to MS18 according to Milan tunneling method. MS 17 and MS18 will be executed in Milan tunneling method. MS18 has an adjacent line station with a bretelle and a railway station.

“Trace Group Hold” Plc executes the construction of MS 18 and the adjacent line station with a bretelle and a railway station. The underground is located in the west part of “Ovcha Kupel” District, across “Boycho Boychev” Str. (Sofia Ring Road) and will be linked with railway line Sofia – Pernik – Radomir via the newly built railway station and a pedestrian connection between them.

A technology was chosen for the implementation of MS 18 according to the Milan tunneling method and reinforced with concrete slit wall in order to minimize the traffic on Boycho Boychev Street.

The adjacent line station with a bretelle will be implemented according to a New Austrian tunneling method in order to minimize the impact of construction in the area.

The future railway station is an intermodal connection between Sofia-Pernik-Radomir railway line and Sofia underground. The platform to the railway station along with the underground station will be provided in accordance with the requirements of the Ordinance on accessible environment.

The total length of the underground section is 1 505.72 m. The contract also provides the complete equipment of the two underground stations, tunnel sections and railway station.
