Project: Construction of intermodal terminal in South-central planning area in Bulgaria - Plovdiv

The project is realized with funds of the European fund for regional development through OP "Transport 2007 – 2013" and national co-funding.

The project provides the construction of terminal for intermodal transportation at T. Kableshkov railway station, part of Plovdiv railway junction. The site will be located at the Northern part of the station. The vehicles approach towards the terminal will be made directly from the Republic road network, without going through populated points. Over an area of  71,450 m² the following will be constructed - terminal site for TR operations, two rows containers storage site, area for damaged containers and equipment, special locations for refrigerating loading units, administrative building for servicing of customers, building for customs control and customs storehouse, parking lots for loading vehicles and cars, and control checkpoint.

Contractor for the project is "Trace Group Hold" PLC and the construction supervision is performed by company as per the obligations and contracts law "Rubikon-test".

Purpose of the project:

Establishment of conditions for inter modal transport and development of the railway infrastructure, according to the EU policy. It will help the optimization of the existing infrastructure and will improve the quality of the transport services provided in Bulgaria.

Benefits of the project:

The construction of new infrastructure for inter modal transport in South-Center planning are in Bulgaria - Plovdiv will create conditions for the performance of different transport types and their combination. The project will help the improvement of the quality of freight services offered and to reduction of the prices of transport companies and as a result, to the end user. The project also has indirect benefits, which will help the region: opening of new employment positions and improvement of the standard of living of the population.
