Repairs of the railway line Sofia - Mezdra

"RESTORATION OF DESIGN SPEED IN THE SECTION SOFIA – MEZDRA, ROAD No. 2, ACC. TO SPECIFIED

POSITIONS: POSITION No. 2 – SECTION FROM KM 33+485 TO КМ 41+578 WITH LENGTH OF 8,093 М“,

The section from km 33+485 to km 41+578 is two-way section of 2nd railway line Sofia – Mezdra – Varna. The area is located in the section Sofia – Mezdra, which is categorized as "railway highway".

The section that is going to be repaired has a length of 8,093 m. The railway is constructed with design parameters for trains movement speed of 70 km/h, but due to its deteriorated technical condition, currently the speed is limited to 50 km/h.

The trace of the railway line is located almost tightly to the slopes of the Iskar Gorge, but is frequently cut by gullies and ravines and in one location, it crosses the bed of Iskar River, which determines the presence of big number of artificial families – 4 bridges, 31 culverts and 12 revetment walls.

The works performed are as follows:

1.      Stage I – implementation of the design of the following pats: "Geodesy", "Engineering and geological research", "Optimization of the railway at axis and level", "Ground works and upper construction", "Draining", "Small facilities" "Facilities", "Organization and implementation of construction", "Ecology, visibility and dimensions", "Chaining and tracking", "Securing installation", "Automatic blockaging" and "Telecommunications", "Catenary" - "Pillars and foundation", "Occupational health and safety plan", "Environment protection". Deadlines of the work projects - 40 calendar days after signing of the contract.

2. Stage II – implementation of the construction and installation works, as per parts: "Railway", "Catenary" and "Signalization and telecommunication". Deadlines for implementation of CIW – 195 calendar days after the signing of protocol form 2a for the opening of the construction site.
