Project "Rehabilitation of the railway infrastructure of railway line Plovdiv – Burgas" (263 km)
The railway line Plovdiv – Burgas is part of TINA network and that of the European transport corridor VIII. The main purpose of the project is to increase the speed of movement of the trains in the rehabilitated sections up to 160 km/h, which will reduce the required time for travel in the railway section Plovdiv – Burgas by one hour.
The trace has a total length of 292 km, out of which 139 km are single line and 153 km double line. Before the reconstruction, the maximum movement speed of the trains is 60-90 km/h and after the completion of the repair works, it is expected the speed to reach from 130 to 160 km/h.
The project is funded by Cohesion fund of EU, by Priority axis 1 of OP "Transport" 2007 – 2013. The realization of the project is aimed at the development of the main railway infrastructure and to achieve integration of the national transport network in the network of the European union. The project will help Bulgaria in the performance of its engagements for development of the railway infrastructure, according to the standards of the European union. The project is divided in three positions:
Specified position No. 1 - Rehabilitation of the railway section Mihailovo - Kaloyanovets, including the main tracks of railway stations Mihailovo and Kaloyanovets, with approximate extended length of the railway 21 km.; duration for performance 65 weeks.
Specified position No. 2 - Rehabilitation of the railway sections Stara Zagora - Zavoi, up to km 190+590, between the stations Yambol - Zavoi and Zavoi - Zimnitsa, from km 192+706 to entrance point switch of railway station Zimnitsa /including the main tracks of the railway stations Stara Zagora and Yambol and at all railway stations and stops between them with approximate extended length of the railway of 120 km.; duration for performance 165 weeks.
